About the event
Pre-empt and Prevail
The lesson you learned in school about the second person to throw a punch getting in trouble rings true in real world self-defense. Going second in a fight means you’re behind, possibly have already take a strike, and have a reactionary gap to contend with. That’s bigger trouble than the principles office. In cases where it’s warranted, hitting first is the best way to end a fight or put yourself in a better position to do so.
Make it Count: Striking for Self-Defense
Striking for self-defense has it’s place, and in this workshop, students will learn about range, timing, incidental defense, and power striking, in order to optimize strikes when they they matter the most. Borrowing from boxing, Muay Thai, and Dutch kickboxing, this workshop will explore elements from the most proven striking systems on the planet.
Open Guard Fundamentals for Self-Defense
